Verions 0.2 is on the way. Features list is presented.

The development has slowed down a bit since the release of the version 0.1 Primarily, I was collecting feedbacks and evaluating the people's attitude regarding the software. So far, I've got several very warm and inspiring responses from folks all over the world. Download statistics is also optimistic, so, I suppose, GSEGYView is generally found to be useful and promising product among the users. The next version is anticipated and long waited. It is time to publish major features which will be implemented in it:

  • SEG-Y rev.1 draft 6 compliance (the first release has some pitfalls in this area and far from being perfect, just like the format itself);
  • file format editor to support other trace-based formats (like Seismic Un*x);
  • lighting and bumpmapping;
  • 16-bit 512, 1024, 2048, and 4096-color palettes for more accurate variable density visualization;
  • data views coupling (data manipulation in one window is automatically reproduced in all coupled windows);
  • Data View window GUI redesign (the main idea here is to move the AGC and mode panels to a separate window, put the statusbar in the bottom of the data view window);
  • 64-bit architectures support (Fedora Core and Ubuntu only);
  • all the bugs and feature requests from the SourceForge respective lists;
  • some basic user documentation.

The rough estimation of the release date is the end of February. All suggestions and feature requests are highly welcome. Propsective beta-testers intrested in getting experimental builds of the version 0.2 for specific platforms are encouraged to contact me during January.

As usual, I post here important links for all of you willing to participate in the development: feature requests list , bugs database and, of course, the online form for quick maling to the author. You can also mail me directly to
